Writing While Moving…

As many of you know, in April our dryer caught fire, and the smoke damage to out house was so significant we had to vacate the premises. We have been living in a hotel which has been very difficult for a family of four. This past week, we moved into our temporary residence as the fire damage clean up and repair is slated to begin.  We do not have internet access yet and that has been very difficult this past week. I am writing now from a local Starbucks.

While dealing with the move in, I have finished Lone Viking. It’s a romantic comedy with a magical twist that is an upbeat, feel good movie. I’ve also been looking into getting permits for the streets of West Hollywood as that is where we would be shooting some of the scenes. We also need a home to shoot in as many of the scenes happen in a residence. As locations are always the most difficult to obtain and our home is out of commission, we are looking for a two bedroom apartment or home for the shoot.

I have also been revising Catharsis as that will be the first short we shoot on our new camera. It’s a dramatic film that will be shot in our vacated home, and in our current residence. I feel very good about the reworking of the script. It adds a lot to the character development and the story as a whole.

Brad finished his pilot Machine Room which he just sent me. I’ll be revising it this week along with planning the budget for Lone Viking and setting up the shoot for Catharsis. It’s a very busy time juggling the move, work, and my films, but I feel very blessed to be busy doing what I love.
