Writing from Home…
When I’m working on my scripts, things go remarkably well as long as I am not distracted. As a busy mother of twins, if the kids are home, it’s difficult to squeeze in time for writing. When they’re at school, it’s my time to work. My focus this week is completing the romantic comedy screenplay inspired by true events. It’s a cute love story with universal themes and fun characters.
Amanda is the lead. She goes through a trying time at the beginning, and then meets a man from her past. Their romance is the A story. Her sister Sarah and her hilariously wild dating life is the B story, and their conservative mother is the C story when her first husband, who left her for another woman, unexpectedly shows up to cause problems.
I’ve found the best thing to do when completing a script is to block out all distractions. This keeps me focused on writing quickly. After I complete this script, I’ll be handing it off to family members for opinions as well as hiring other professionals for feedback. This is the film that is directly tied to my family, and it’s my plan to make it soon.
