The Sphere – Effects Heavy Short…

I shot the Sphere this past summer, but it was put on hold so we could kick out J&B. Now, I’m back on it, and the short is going well. It’s requiring a great deal of look development and virtual scene creation. I’m using top of the line software, so it will look like something you would see at the movie theatre. Being a one man band that requires time. I’m currently running final tests between two render engines to see which will be the preferred one for the project. Render times can easily be 3 to 4 hours for 1 second of animation. Make a mistake, and you have to render it all over again.

This is a look development roundtable with a depth blur attached to it.

I spent the day writing Fay, and when I wasn’t writing I was thinking about my characters and imagining conversations between them. That is always a good sign. It means Jackson and Fay are very real to me and that translates in the writing. Being able to visualize the characters helps as well. I see Fay so clearly because she was inspired by a real person. Who knows if that will be the actress who plays her, but that is how I see her for now.

This is a shot of Rihanna but it kind of resembles how I see Fay…

This is a shot of Channing Tatum, but this is how I imagine Jackson…

So far the script is one I could shoot myself for a low-budget. As for Bridgeport, I know who I want for Colt and for Bethany, but the rest are still up in the air at the moment while I look through choices.
