Busy Days Ahead…
Working on this new show is going to be taking up most of my time. When I’m home, I’m scrambling to get things done. The good news is Brad has some down time, so he can work from home on all our projects. This week, I am making shot lists for Catharsis, memorizing lines, and putting together the official paperwork. Brad will be getting together the props, prepping gear and securing production assistants. We don’t need much help considering our setup, and it’s one of the things that makes us unique. Still, it’s always nice to have an extra hand. We will be having make up for this shoot as there is bruising and bloody scenes. I am in the process of booking our make up person. We are shooting Monday and Tuesday of next week, so we are moving fast.
Brad gave me notes on Lone Viking which I will be turning my attention to next week. I’m excited to get back to that feature script because it’s so much fun to work on. It’s a really good day whenever I am laughing while I write. I’m also looking for the right location for The One and Watching. These three shorts will be a good test for our feature. We’ve already been addressing issues as they show up with the test shots we’ve been doing since we got the Blackmagic which has me interested in the Cineroid EVF4MHH HDMI Electronic Viewfinder.
I love being able to put my eye to a viewfinder because it’s like becoming one with the camera. You always get the best framing and focus when you have that clarity. The good thing on the Blackmagic is a built in focus tool that helps focus even on bright sunny days when the light bounces off the reflective surface of the screen. It’s nearly impossible to see, even with the sunshade. However, the focus tool that is built in can save you or using a hoodie strategically placed over your head… but then, there goes your peripheral vision. The
Cineroid Electronic Viewfinder has a meter built into it, so it’s the one I’m ordering. We’re also purchasing a slider so I can get more movement in my shots. I love that look and usually add it in post, but it’s not the same as having a slider in production and doing the move while filming. I’m a big fan of the Film City shoulder rig we have and they have a slider that seems to be a perfect fit. It’s next on our list to buy. With all this gear, we are going to be seriously ready to shoot whatever comes our way.
