Sabella Femme
When I met my husband in college, I told him the first week we met that I was going to move to Los Angeles right after graduation. He said he would follow me. We ended up moving out to LA together in May 2001 with our first “baby” Sabella Femme. She was born to an award winning line of Chartreux, a rare French breed. I put a deposit down for her before she was born. I wanted a little girl kitty. When the large litter was born on May 3, 2001, Sabella Femme was the only girl, and it was obvious from the very beginning. She was so graceful and never wanted to get dirty. She would rather lay with her mother than play with her rowdy brothers every time we came to visit her when she was too little to come home with us.
When Brad and I flew to LA, she came on the plane with us and did so well no one even realized Sabella was there. She’s always been quiet because Chartreux are known to be mute or to rarely mew. You may not hear her meow, but you could hear her loud purr whenever she was near. She loved to sit right next to me, and her soft coat felt wonderful on my fingertips. Sabella Femme was beautiful….
Sabella was diagnosed with cancer a month ago which the doctors said had metastasized. She was still high in spirits and feeling good or maybe she was just too graceful to complain.
Yesterday was not a good day. We lost Sabella in a way which will never be forgotten.
As she was my first “baby” I used her as a model and constantly took photos of her. I even started a website and a yahoo group years ago just for her because I was so happy to be her mommy. She was such a gorgeous girl!
