Pre to Post Production…

We are currently consumed with projects in post. There is a sizzle reel we are cutting that we plan to pitch soon for a reality show we’ve been working on for months as one of our many projects. The fire has set us back immensely on many of our current projects. Playground is nearly finished except for ADR we are getting this weekend. We also have a very large render time on The Sphere which will take a week, just to see if there are changes that need to be made, which as anybody in post knows, there always are necessary tweaks. Catharsis cannot even be addressed at the moment as it just sits in the AVID and waits it’s turn. On top of all this, we’re running out of storage based on the fact that 4K takes up so much space. This is the one drawback to shooting in 4K, but the rich image quality make it worth it in the end.

As for preproduction, every feature I write always goes through several revisions. This is what it is to be a writer. To make it the best it can be, it needs to be read, reread and written thoroughly. You can always find something to tinker with, but at some point, you need to know when it’s ready to shoot.  Lone Viking is at that point. It’s hilarious,  sexy and a laugh out loud read. I am very proud of this one! I love it!  It could be made for less than $100,000 which is very low-budget. All the characters have their own uniqueness and are easy to fall in love with.

Mandy lives with Plato, her best friend from childhood, and loves to read Viking romance novels because the heroes are so much more impressive then the average guys she meets. She’s sweet, sincere, and sometimes a little too honest. She’s also going through a very surreal experience as her birthday gift just granted a wish that has completely disrupted her life and turned it upside down. Rodmar Svan, the incredible hero from her romance novel has just pulled a Pinocchio and come to life as a real man. This new world has him spinning, and he ends up lost on the streets of West Hollywood. From the colorful characters he encounters to the events that take place, he starts to realize that he is now writing his own  story.

For the first time in Rodmar’s life, the tough Viking is feeling very vulnerable. He’s also falling for Mandy who discovers that Plato has been secretly in love with her since they were kids. The ending sets us up for a sequel that will involve trying to get their buddy Paul back to future to marry his man. There are so many fun characters and cute situations that make it a delicious read. I hope we have the opportunity to make it. I am seeking sponsors as it’s the perfect film to slip in products. It’s also a big reflection of what I like– from Vikings to freedom of choice. It touches on several issues with humor, and normalizes gay marriage in a way that I find extremely appealing. I also love the fact that it makes you laugh because the world is hard enough without having some humor to brighten it up.
