Effects Shot and Head Shots…
First render of an effects shot from The Sphere
This is another one of the effects shots Brad designed for The Sphere. As you can see, the computer has the 3-D mock up of the sphere that appears in the sky. This one still has some tweaking to do before it will be ready to go into the film. It’s a really cool short. We shot it in a few hours with most of the work being done in post. The special effects shots always take the most time to develop because of many factors which also includes the render time itself. Once you render the shot, you can see exactly how your design looks and if you need to tweak it. Then it is off to render again once you do any alterations. It can take all day to render one shot.
We’ve also been busy testing out our new camera, and we’re both taking a course on it, so we will know it inside and out. There is always a learning curve when it comes to new equipment and since this is a first generation cam, everybody else out there is learning it for the first time too. We still use our Canon 7D for stills and on set as a behind the scenes camera to capture high grade images. Two days ago, Brad snapped several head shots of me using it. He got really creative, and we had a lot of fun shooting them. If you click on the pic below, it will take you to my personal website where you can view them.
