Visual Effects…
Brad designed this a few days ago just for fun. His skill set in visual effects has sharpened working on Cosmos. It’s a gorgeous show because all the visual effects are stunning, and it’s really interesting.
Neil deGrasse Tyson is the host, and he was there the night we watched the premiere episode. After talking to him about the series, everyone in the room seemed to come away with the same conclusion which is they got it right. This show is going to be incredible! If you know anything about Carl Sagan and his book Cosmos: A Personal Voyage that this series is based on, you may know his other book titled Pale Blue Dot.
Earth from Space
It’s a mind trip to see that pale blue dot in the picture and realize that is Earth. Humans and planet Earth is like a speck of dust in the grand theme of the Universe. Knowing we are so infinitesimal may make some people feel as if they are unimportant, but I see it completely different. I believe everyone is important. I value life so much, not just because I’m a mother, but because I believe everyone has something to bring to the table, has a beauty, a uniqueness all their own.
The universe is magical in that we can actually survive together on a planet that doesn’t just float away into space. Instead it rests on an axis that is supported by the gravitational fields around it. All these parts of nature that rely on one another for survival is special and so is this show. You don’t want to miss it. “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey” will premiere on Sunday, March 9 on the National Geographic Channel.
With the amount of time it takes to complete a show this visually stimulating, Brad has been working long hours. Still, when he gets home he designs special effects for Playground as we have so many effects shots. It slows the process down not be able to work on those shots all day, but they are progressing and they look amazing! It’s going to be awesome to have a special effects short that looks so cool in our line of films. Technically, Brad knows exactly what to request from vendors when the time comes for us to do a special effects feature.
